I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 12th inst directing my attention to certain extracts from despatch No 126 addressed by His Excellency the Governor of Hong Kong to the Rt. Honorable Edward Cardwell with reference to my appointment as assayer in the Mint of Hong Kong.
It is unnecessary for me to comment severally upon the favourable alterations in the terms of my appointment which these extracts from His Excellency's despatch have introduced to my satisfaction.
I have to express my thanks that the various questions involved in the modifications have been successfully represented to the Government and after careful consideration, I have every reason to be gratified with the result.
